BYU student and outstanding musician Michael R. Hicks has released a new album, "To Satisfy the Law," with uplifting renditions of traditional LDS hymns.

Hicks has the ability to creatively blend many different hymns into one song that all have the same message and give the same feeling. There is perfect harmony with an unbroken sound as each smoothly flows into another. The songs have a new and different sound, but the hymns still keep their sacredness.

The piano brings about a new feeling when Hicks plays. He has an amazing talent to create music and express great emotion through his work. He is one of those gifted musicians that can hear a song once and play it flawlessly.

The songs touch the heart and inspire good feelings. This music brings peace to the soul and can elevate the spirit. It is a beautiful expression of feelings within music.

The music is comforting. There is fantastic balance to the entire album that makes the music roll and the emotions pour out.

All of the songs are instrumental except for the one that adds a vocal soloists. There are no words needed because the piano is beautiful just as it is.

My roommates and I played it continuously Sunday. From getting ready for church to background music at dinner, the album fit for every activity of the day.

This CD is the perfect gift with wonderful sentiment.

It is wholesome music that everyone can enjoy and feel good about listening to.
